King Harald of Norway Discharged from Malaysian Hospital, Returns Home

As per the reports from the Norwegian media, King Harald was discharged from the hospital in Malaysia on a Sunday, as informed by the popular news agency Reuters.

The reports also mentioned that the Norwegian King is set to be flown back to his homeland on an evacuation plane, a responsibility taken up by the Norwegian Defense Forces, as per Reuters.

Accompanying King Harald on his journey back home is Queen Sonja. The Norwegian royal house informed that the King had to be hospitalized even when he was in Norway.

The information from the royal palace states that King Harald is on sick leave for a period of two weeks.

During his stay at the hospital, King Harald received treatment for an infection. He was also fitted with a temporary pacemaker. The 87-year-old monarch was vacationing on the island of Langkawi when he had to be hospitalized.

King Harald has been hospitalized multiple times in recent years. He ascended to the throne of Norway in 1991 and has been serving as the King since then.

Despite ruling for over three decades and experiencing deteriorating health, King Harald has made it clear that he has no intentions of abdicating the throne. This statement was reiterated after Queen Margaret of Denmark surprisingly abdicated in mid-January.
