Facebook and Instagram are Back Online

The well-known American social media conglomerate, Meta, recently experienced a global service interruption. However, the company’s services such as Facebook and Instagram have now been restored and are functioning normally. The news of the end of the service disruption was conveyed by Meta’s communications director, Andy Stone, via X (formerly Twitter).

“Earlier today, we experienced a technical glitch that resulted in difficulties accessing some of our services,” Stone composed in his announcement. “We addressed and resolved the issue as swiftly as we could to minimize the impact on our users. We extend our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.”

Users across the globe reported the issues they were facing with Meta’s services on the specialized website Downdetector. On Tuesday afternoon, the website was inundated with hundreds of thousands of reports pertaining to problems with Meta services such as Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp and Threads.

In recent weeks, both Facebook and Instagram have undergone serious service outages. However, this was an unprecedented event as both services were offline simultaneously, which is a situation that had not occurred before.
