Introducing Uber’s New Package-Return Feature: Skip the Post Office Trip

Uber has introduced a new feature that allows users to return or ship packages without having to go to a post office. This feature is especially useful during the holiday season. To use this feature, users must already have the necessary materials and labels for their package. They can then prepay for the package and prepare it as they normally would at a post office. However, instead of going to the post office themselves, they can request an Uber driver to pick up and drop off the package for them. It should be noted that this feature is more suitable for returning packages with pre-printed labels, rather than new packages.

This new feature builds upon Uber’s previous expansion called Uber Connect, which allows users to request a driver to send a package. With the Return a Package feature, users can request a courier to pick up to five packages at a time and drop them off at a post office, UPS, or FedEx. This feature will be available in various cities across the US, including San Francisco, Austin, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, and Washington, DC.

Uber has stated that the cost for using the Return a Package feature is a flat fee of $5, or $3 for Uber One members.

To use Uber for sending packages, users need to ensure their package meets Uber’s requirements for shipping, is valued under $100, and weighs less than 30 pounds. They must also prepay for the package with a label or QR code and seal it properly. In the Uber app, they can find and use the package icon to request a driver to pick up the package. Users can track the package in real time using the Uber app, and the courier will send confirmation or a photo once the drop-off has been completed.
