Israeli tanks have reportedly advanced into the outskirts of Gaza City, as the country intensifies its offensive against Hamas. Witnesses have reported heavy fighting in northern Gaza, and tanks have entered the Zaytun district, cutting off a key road. Residents have stated that Israeli forces are firing at any vehicle that attempts to use the road. Israel has previously urged residents to move south to avoid military strikes, but tens of thousands are believed to still be in the area. The ground offensive comes in response to the October 7 Hamas attacks, which officials say killed 1,400 people, mostly civilians, and took 239 people hostage.
