Trinamool MP Mahua Moitra’s Parliamentary Account Accessed 47 Times From Dubai: Report

New Delhi: In a significant development, it has been alleged that Trinamool MP Mahua Moitra’s parliamentary account was accessed 47 times from Dubai, just a day before she is scheduled to appear before the Lok Sabha’s Ethics Committee. This committee is currently investigating BJP MP Nishikant Dubey’s claims of “cash-for-query” against Moitra.

According to sources familiar with the matter, Moitra is accused of asking questions through her parliamentary account on behalf of businessman Darshan Hiranandani, who allegedly offered bribes and favors in return. Moitra has admitted to sharing her login credentials with Hiranandani, whom she considers a close friend, but has denied any financial motivation and insisted that the questions were her own.

Dubey has accused Moitra of compromising national interest by sharing her parliamentary portal login and password with an outsider, citing the confidentiality agreement signed by MPs. He has demanded action against her. Referring to media reports, Dubey highlighted that Moitra’s login was accessed 47 times from Hiranandani’s location in Dubai, with an equal number of questions asked in Parliament.

“If this news is true, then all MPs in the country should stand against Mahua ji’s corruption. Hiranandani asked questions in Lok Sabha for Hiranandani. Are we MPs for promoting selfish interests of capitalists?” Dubey stated.

The Ethics Committee has sought assistance from the Union ministries of home and information technology to investigate the matter. It is believed that they have received relevant details pertaining to their queries.

Moitra has alleged that Hiranandani was coerced by the government to file the affidavit against her and has expressed a desire to question him during her appearance before the panel. However, it is unlikely that this request will be granted, as it is not a standard practice in the functioning of parliamentary panels.

Moitra has also claimed that the Adani Group is behind these allegations due to her strong criticism of the business conglomerate.
