Utah Woman Brutally Mauled by Son’s Pack of Pit Bulls, Resulting in Leg Amputation

A woman in Utah had to undergo leg amputation after being viciously attacked by her son’s pit bulls in her own backyard, according to the Taylorsville Police Department. The incident occurred at the woman’s mobile home in Taylorsville, prompting her to make a desperate 911 call. Responding officers arrived at the scene around 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday to find the 63-year-old woman surrounded by the aggressive dogs. They used pepper spray to contain the animals while paramedics attended to the injured woman, who was then rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. She suffered extensive injuries to her hands, face, and legs, resulting in the amputation of one of her legs. The woman’s son, who owned two adult pit bulls and five pit bull puppies, handed over the puppies and the father dog to West Valley City Animal Services. Authorities shot and killed the mother dog to protect themselves and the animal control officers. The police department is now working with animal services to investigate the attack. Taylorsville Police Chief Brady Cottam praised the woman’s quick actions in calling 911, stating that it likely saved her life. The incident has left the police department saddened and concerned.
