Ukrainian Air Force Commander Officially Confirms Successful Destruction of Russia’s State-of-the-Art Warship in Kerch

Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, the Air Force Commander of Ukraine, has officially confirmed that Ukrainian forces have successfully sunk a highly advanced ship belonging to the Russian Black Sea Fleet. The ship in question is a Kalibr cruise missile carrier. This development was disclosed by Oleshchuk himself on Telegram.

The incident took place on 4th November, when a series of explosions occurred in Crimea, which is currently under Russian occupation. In response to the explosions, an air-raid warning was issued. Ukrainian pilots were subsequently ordered to carry out airstrikes on the Zaliv shipyard located in the city of Kerch. Initially, there was uncertainty regarding whether the warship had been destroyed.

However, the following day, Lieutenant General Oleshchuk confirmed that one of Russia’s newest Kalibr carriers had indeed been destroyed. In his own words, he stated, “I confirm [it].”

In the background of this event, the Russians initially claimed that some of the debris from the downed missiles had crashed into the territory of one of the dry docks. It wasn’t until later that same evening, on 4th November, that the Russian Defence Ministry admitted that a warship belonging to the Russian Black Sea Fleet, which was docked at the Kerch shipyard, had been “damaged.”

This significant development highlights the escalating tensions between Ukraine and Russia. The Ukrainian forces’ successful sinking of the Kalibr carrier demonstrates their military prowess and ability to counter the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
