Qatar’s F-15QA Advanced Eagle made its highly anticipated public debut at the Dubai Airshow this week. The fighter jet, unencumbered by any stores and without its conformal fuel tanks, showcased its advanced fly-by-wire technology and powerful F110-GE-129 engines. The impressive demonstrations were performed by Boeing test pilot Jason “Mongoose” Dotter and flight test weapon systems operator Mike “Houdini” Quintini. Qatar’s Emiri Air Force currently has a fleet of 36 F-15QAs, with the last five being delivered in August. Derived from the F-15SA Advanced Eagle for Saudi Arabia, the F-15QA is the most advanced variant of the F-15 in operation today. It features a fly-by-wire system, which allows for enhanced performance and increased safety. The Dubai Airshow routine included intense maneuvers such as tailslides, abrupt pulls, and extreme high-alpha flying. The F-15QA’s advanced fly-by-wire system and General Electric F110-GE-129 turbofans enable it to handle forces of up to 12 Gs in emergencies. The display in Dubai showcased the aircraft’s exceptional capabilities and marked a milestone for the fly-by-wire F-15 variant.
