Houston Police Arrest Second Man in Connection with Deadly Shooting

Houston, TX – The Houston Police Department has apprehended the second individual involved in a fatal shooting that occurred on the service road of 8524 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) on October 13. Jimmie Daniels, aged 21, is believed to be the second person involved in the shooting of Roberto Almaguer Garza, a 29-year-old taco truck owner.

According to authorities, Dominic Griffin, aged 17, and Daniels allegedly attempted to rob Almaguer Garza at gunpoint. During the robbery, a struggle ensued, resulting in Almaguer Garza being shot multiple times. The incident took place at a gas station around 3:43 am, and upon arrival, police discovered Almaguer Garza suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Tragically, paramedics from the Houston Fire Department pronounced him dead at the scene.

Daniels, who was already in custody for an unrelated offense, managed to escape in an undisclosed direction following the shooting. However, on October 26, Daniels was charged for his involvement in this fatal shooting. Both Daniels and Griffin have been charged with capital murder in the 487th State District Court.
