Federal agents and the NYPD have conducted an investigation into New York’s Gambino crime family, leading them to two horse farms in upstate New York, according to sources from FOX 5 NY. The FBI has confirmed that law enforcement activities took place at two locations in Orange County: one on Hampton Road in Goshen and the other on Hamptonburgh Road in Campbell Hall. However, the exact reasons for targeting these locations have not been disclosed.
Last week, authorities announced charges against ten alleged members and associates of the Gambino crime family. The indictment accuses them of using violence and extortion to gain control over New York’s garbage carting and demolition industries. The crimes listed in the indictment include assaulting a demolition company employee with a hammer and setting fire to the steps of a trash carting business owner’s house.
Among the defendants is Joseph Lanni, also known as “Joe Brooklyn” and “Mommino,” who is believed to be a captain in the Gambino family. Alongside Lanni, there are nine alleged Gambino soldiers and associates facing charges. Lanni’s attorney, Frederick Sosinsky, has stated that his client is innocent and plans to vigorously challenge the charges.
It remains unclear whether the recent arrests are directly connected to the law enforcement activities in Orange County. The investigation is ongoing, and further details have not been released. The Associated Press has contributed to this report.
