Introducing Lego’s Latest Super Mario Set: The Fierce Piranha Plant

Lego has unveiled its latest addition to the Super Mario sets, featuring the iconic Piranha Plant. Known for its attempts to devour Mario in the Nintendo video game franchise, this toothy carnivorous plant is now available as a plastic Lego model. The design accurately captures the menacing essence of the enemy, with its green pipe and two outstretched leaves. The sharp teeth and hidden pink tongue add to its menacing appearance. Carl Merriam, the senior designer of Lego Super Mario, expressed his satisfaction with the set’s ability to evoke nostalgia for fans who grew up with Mario.

The Piranha Plant Lego set is intended for builders aged 18 and older. With a total of 540 pieces, the 9-inch build starts from the bottom to recreate the plant emerging from the green pipe, just like in the game. The completed model is not just a static statue, but a posable figure with a movable head, mouth, stalk, and leaves. Lego already offers a wide range of Mario sets for both kids and adults, including a posable Mighty Bowser and a vintage Nintendo Entertainment System with a tube TV. Compared to these larger and more expensive sets, the Piranha Plant set is priced at an affordable $60.
