A Los Angeles homeowner had his concealed carry license suspended after exchanging gunfire with two would-be robbers outside his home. The incident took place on November 6 in a Central L.A. neighborhood, with the homeowner’s wife and 5-month-old child inside the house during the shootout. The robbers, who were wearing masks, jumped over a wall and charged at the homeowner with a gun as he was walking to his front door. In response, the homeowner pulled out his concealed handgun and fired at the intruders, causing them to flee while returning fire. Neighbors called 911, but the robbers could not be located by the police. No injuries were reported. The homeowner, Vince Ricci, expressed frustration in a video posted by the National Rifle Association, stating that California had now taken away his Second Amendment rights. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that Ricci’s concealed carry permit was suspended, but did not provide a specific reason. However, according to the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, the license must be revoked if the licensee is legally prohibited from possessing firearms or becomes a disqualified person. The sheriff’s department stated that Ricci can reapply for his permit if he follows the required protocols. The investigation into the robbery is ongoing, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the police.
