Spanish tennis ace, Carlos Alcaraz, emerged victorious in a thrilling match this Friday. The match, which took place in the early hours of the morning in Spain, was a part of the Buenos Aires (Argentina) tournament. This tournament, which is ranked in the ATP 250 category and is played on clay, saw Alcaraz advance to the semifinals after he clinched a 7-6 (1) and 6-1 victory over the Italian player, Andrea Vavassori.
The match took place at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club, where Alcaraz displayed an impressive performance. Unlike the previous day’s match against Argentine Camilo Ugo Carabelli, Alcaraz showed no signs of irregularity with his serves. In fact, the first set saw no ‘breaks’ from either side, with each player missing a single break point.
However, the game took a turn during the tie-breaker. Vavassori lost all his serves, giving Alcaraz a solid 7-1 lead, after 58 minutes into the set. This victory bolstered Alcaraz’s confidence, leading him to further improve his offensive display at the beginning of the second set. He broke in the second game, consolidating his lead and then broke again immediately after, securing a 4-0 lead.
At this point, Vavassori, who is currently ranked number 152 in the world, seemed to have accepted his defeat. He put up a fight for a little while longer on the Buenos Aires clay, but despite a good turn of serve, he eventually conceded his defeat after an hour and 40 minutes.
