The consumer technology industry has seen a significant rise in the popularity of smartwatches in recent years. These devices, worn on the wrist, offer more than just the ability to tell time, with features such as health and fitness tracking and notifications.
When people think of smartwatches, the Apple Watch often comes to mind. These square-faced gadgets have gained widespread acclaim due to their user-friendly interface and seamless integration with iPhones.
Now, the Apple Watch range is set to receive a notable update that brings back a crucial customization feature. In the WatchOS 10.2 beta, the ability to change watch faces with a simple swipe gesture has been reintroduced.
This revelation comes from a Twitter post by a user who delved into the source code of the update. The source code highlights two strings related to the feature called “swipe to switch watch faces.”
Long-time Apple Watch users will be familiar with this feature as it was previously a part of the software but was removed with the release of WatchOS 10.
To utilize this feature, users can navigate to Settings and then Clock. From there, they can select their preferred method of changing watch faces.
Personally, I found great enjoyment in being able to easily swipe between different watch faces. This feature had practical uses, such as having a watch face dedicated to displaying fitness data for quick access during a run.
Furthermore, I appreciated the ability to switch between watch faces of various colors and styles to match my outfit or the setting I was in. On my own device, I had multiple watch faces set up, ready to be switched between depending on the occasion.
Having this feature back on the Apple Watch is incredibly useful and provides users with an added level of functionality. Currently, it is available in the beta version, but for those who prefer not to use beta versions, they will have to wait for the public release of the 10.2 update.
