Apple has announced its latest lineup of products, including new MacBook Pro and iMac computers, as well as a new M3 chip family to power them. These announcements were made at an online event called “Scary Fast”.
The new MacBook Pro lineup features the all-new M3 chips, with the 14-inch model available in Space Black. According to Apple, this laptop is not only great for everyday tasks but also delivers phenomenal sustained performance in professional apps and games. The 14-inch MacBook Pro starts at $1,599, while the 16-inch version starts at $2,499. Customers can order the new MacBook Pro starting today, and it will be available from November 7.
In addition to the new MacBook Pro, Apple also unveiled the new 24-inch iMac, which features the M3 chip. This iMac is up to 2 times faster than the previous generation with M1.1 and up to 2.5 times faster than the most popular 27-inch models for those upgrading from an Intel-based iMac. It also boasts a 4.5K Retina display with 11.3 million pixels and over a billion colors, faster wireless connectivity, and a seamless experience with the iPhone.
The highlight of the event was the introduction of the M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max chips. These chips are the first personal computer chips built using the industry-leading 3-nanometer process technology, which allows for more transistors to be packed into a smaller space, resulting in improved speed and efficiency. The M3 family of chips features a next-generation GPU, which is faster and more efficient, and introduces a new technology called Dynamic Caching.
Apple has also added new rendering features to its Mac lineup for the first time, including hardware-accelerated ray tracing and mesh shading. Rendering speeds on the M3 chips are now up to 2.5 times faster than on the M1 family of chips, and the CPU performance cores and efficiency cores are 30% and 50% faster, respectively. The new media engine in the M3 chips also includes support for AV1 decode, providing more efficient and high-quality video streaming experiences.
Overall, Apple’s latest announcements showcase its commitment to pushing the boundaries of technology and delivering powerful and efficient devices to its customers.
