Aryan Brotherhood Gang Member Receives 30-Year Sentence for Drug Offenses in North Texas

A member of the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas gang, aged 30, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for first-degree felony drug charges. Dakota Carroll pleaded guilty to possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, specifically 58 grams of methamphetamine. The sentencing took place in Collin County, as confirmed by a news release from the Collin County District Attorney’s Office.

The arrest of Carroll occurred on July 26, 2020, during a traffic stop in Richardson, near Econolodge off North Central Expressway. Richardson police Sgt. Benjamin Masters, after observing several traffic violations, identified Carroll as the driver and called for a K-9 officer to assist at the scene. Officer Cory Wendling and his police dog, Falco, conducted a search of the vehicle. Falco alerted positively to the presence of drugs, leading to a subsequent search by officers. The search yielded 58 grams of methamphetamine, a digital scale, unused baggies, a small amount of cash, and less than a gram of heroin.

According to the news release, as the officers were concluding their search, Carroll attempted to bribe them by offering to provide up to a pound of methamphetamine and numerous firearms if they allowed him to go free. However, the police promptly arrested him and took him into custody. Carroll remained in jail for 81 days until he was able to post a bond of $25,000.

The news release also revealed that Carroll had previously been imprisoned in 2015 in Dallas County for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Following his release on bond in Collin County, he returned to Dallas County and now faces additional charges, including possession with intent to distribute, robbery, non-fatal shooting, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, child abandonment and endangerment, and evading arrest with a motor vehicle.

Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis emphasized the significance of Carroll’s sentence, stating, “Dakota Carroll is a known violent gangster with extensive criminal history who’s willing to try to bribe police officers. This 30-year sentence holds him accountable and keeps him away from Collin County citizens.”
