A man is facing charges after allegedly breaking into a hotel room on the Las Vegas Strip, pistol-whipping a bachelorette party attendee, and firing a bullet into a bed before fleeing the scene. Quavaus Williams, 37, was indicted by a Clark County grand jury on charges including residential burglary, robbery with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm within an occupied structure, and a gun-related offense. The incident occurred at the Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel & Casino in the early morning hours of August 19th, but was not reported until recently.
According to police records, a woman called the police to report an armed robbery inside a hotel room. The victim described waking up to find Williams going through her suitcase. When she confronted him, he pointed a gun at her and threatened her life. Williams then proceeded to pistol-whip the woman and fired a shot that struck a headboard.
The victim and two other individuals in the room were in town for a bachelorette party. After the incident, police were able to track Williams to an apartment in downtown Las Vegas where they found the victim’s phone and other items matching surveillance footage.
The victim sustained multiple fractures to her nose and face as a result of the attack. Police believe Williams gained access to the room when one of the women briefly left to make a phone call, leaving the door slightly ajar.
Williams was arrested on August 30th and pleaded not guilty in court. He is currently being held without bond and is serving a two-to-five-year prison sentence on an unrelated gun charge. Williams has a history of prior larceny and firearm-related convictions.
In light of this incident, Metro police advise hotel guests to always lock their room doors and never prop them open, as it provides easy access for thieves. The department emphasizes the importance of keeping oneself and belongings secure.
The trial for Williams is scheduled for April 1, 2024.
