Baturina and I Delivered a Motivational Speech Prior to Penalty, Goal Dedicated to Fans

In the high-stakes derby match against Rijeka, it was Dinamo who emerged victorious with a 1-0 win. This victory places Zagreb once again as the leading contenders in the battle for the championship title. The team, under the guidance of Sergej Jakirović, has been showcasing excellent form lately. In their last four matches, Dinamo has secured three wins (against Betis away, Varaždin, and Rijeka) and one draw (against Betis at home).

Expressing his delight over the victory, Fran Brodic said, “We all needed this win, and we put up a fight that lasted the full 90 minutes. In the end, it was my penalty that clinified the win, and while I am personally pleased about that, it’s the three points that truly matter.” He also reiterated his confidence in his penalty-taking abilities, stating that there was never any fear and he was certain of netting the goal. As he puts it, “I’ve been training well, we often do the finish, so there were no problems. I was waiting for my chance, and when it came, I made the most of it.”

He elaborated further saying, “We had My battery and I gave a motivational speech about the penalty, that was it. Dinamo has always been the favorite for the title, kudos to Rijeka and Hajduk, everyone has their chances and it will be very interesting until the end of the championship. As for my goal, I dedicate it to Dinamo fans and the entire team.”

There were certain quarters who believed that Rijeka was the favorite at Maksimir. But as Brodic sees it, “Rijeka may have been in better form, but Dinamo is always the favorite at Maksimir. I believe we dominated the entire match, created better opportunities than Rijeka, and ultimately, we were the ones who won.”

When asked about his transition from playing all the matches in Varaždin to fighting for playing time, Brodic said, “I knew when I joined Dinamo that I wouldn’t play the full 90 minutes in every game. I am aware of the importance of what Bruno Petkovic brings to Dinamo and Croatian football, but we are all striving towards the same goal.”

Reflecting on the recent victory over Rijeka and passage against Betis, Brodic was asked if these could be the turning point of the entire season. To this, he replied, “It could be, but we have a new match already on Wednesday, a new competition. Like every other player, I am patiently waiting for my chance. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter who plays, the only thing that matters is that we win and secure points.”
