BJP calls out Congress for DMK leader DNV Senthilkumar’s controversial Gaumutra remarks in Lok Sabha

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the Congress party of insulting north India and Hindus following a comment made by a legislator from their ally, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), in the Lok Sabha. During a debate on two bills related to Jammu and Kashmir, DMK MP DNV Senthilkumar referred to the heartland states as “gaumutra states,” suggesting that the BJP can only win elections in these states and not in south India.

Union Minister Anurag Thakur criticized the Congress for their ally’s remark, stating that their defeat in the heartland states did not diminish their arrogance. Thakur claimed that a conspiracy is being orchestrated to erase the culture and identity of the country. He also mentioned Rahul Gandhi’s defeat from Amethi and accused him of supporting the “tukde tukde” gang.

Thakur asserted that the Congress and its arrogant alliance, referring to the INDIA bloc, are trying to humiliate north India and its people. He questioned Gandhi’s nationwide Bharat Jodo Yatra and the party’s choice for Telangana chief minister, Revanth Reddy.

Senthilkumar’s comment came amidst discussions about a “north-south divide” following the BJP’s victories in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, while the Congress won in Telangana. The DMK MP stated that the BJP cannot succeed in South India, as they are strong in states like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka.

The BJP strongly criticized Senthilkumar’s statement, with Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai condemning the MP’s “insensitive” remarks. Former Karnataka minister CT Ravi questioned whether Rahul Gandhi endorses the insulting comments made by the DMK MP. Earlier, Udhayanidhi Stalin, son of DMK leader MK Stalin and Tamil Nadu minister, had sparked controversy with his comment about eradicating Sanatan Dharma.
