Booba Unveils Teaser for His Upcoming Series on Amazon Prime, Set for March Broadcast

The name “Ourika” has been in the air for some time now. Finally, more details have emerged about rapper Booba’s new project. On Tuesday, he released a trailer for his upcoming series on platform X, which is set to premiere on Amazon Prime in March 2024.

The Duke of Boulogne, now residing in Miami, co-created the series in a collaborative effort with Clément Godart, Clément Gournay and Vincent L’Anthoën. In a first, Booba will also make his debut as an actor in a supporting role within the series.

Set in a French city, the series highlights confrontations with the police and a drug trafficking network with ties to Morocco. It portrays itself as an “urban western” set during the 2005 riots following the deaths of Zied Benna and Bouna Traoré.

Booba, a prominent figure in French rap, has previously criticized series like “Validé” on Canal+ for their depiction of the suburbs. It will be interesting to see how his own series is received by audiences.

The project has been in the works for quite some time. Back in March 2021, around the time of his Ultra album release, Booba expressed his intent to transition from music to a series project. He initiated the first castings for the series in the summer of 2022.

In June 2023, Booba shared pictures of himself on the set of the series. “I was on the set of Ourika where I encountered an extraordinary team, remarkable actors, a fantastic script, and incredible energy. I wholeheartedly believe in this project,” he stated.
