Brave Pilot Survives Florida Everglades Crash-Landing, Rescued After Perilous Wait on Alligator-Infested Water

A pilot crash-landed his small plane in the Florida Everglades and spent hours waiting to be rescued on the wing of the aircraft. The incident occurred on Tuesday morning when the pilot, whose identity remains unknown, embarked on his flight from a Miami flight school. About an hour into the journey, the plane spiraled down into the alligator-infested waters. The Miami flight school alerted Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, who then initiated the rescue mission. While awaiting help, the pilot endured the presence of dangerous wildlife and made a tourniquet for a leg injury. Eventually, a rescuer was lowered from a helicopter and hoisted the pilot up from the wing. He was then taken to a local hospital, where it was revealed that his leg injury was minor. The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Authority.
