In 2017, Wiley, an influential figure in the music industry, was honored with an MBE title due to his significant contributions to music.
Wiley, who’s known internationally as a British rapper, has recently been stripped of his MBE title. The decision was made following a series of anti-Jewish remarks he made.
This has been reported by various news outlets, including the renowned British Broadcasting Company (BBC).
Wiley, whose real name is Richard Cowie, was granted the MBE title in 2017 in recognition of his exceptional accomplishments in the music industry. His work as a grime music pioneer is particularly noteworthy.
However, in 2020, Wiley began to attract negative attention due to a series of anti-Jewish comments he made on social media platforms. In one instance, he even compared Jewish people to the Ku Klux Klan, a white supremacist group.
As a result of these remarks, Wiley’s Jewish manager decided to end their professional relationship. This incident sparked a public outcry in Britain, with many calling for Wiley to lose his MBE title.
Subsequently, Wiley expressed regret for his remarks during an interview with British Sky News. He explained that his comments stemmed from a disagreement with his manager, according to BBC reports.
Despite efforts to contact Wiley for his comments on the loss of his title, the BBC was unable to reach him.
