Bucks County middle school counselor accused of sexual assault on student put on administrative leave

A middle school counselor in Bucks County, Pennsylvania is facing multiple charges for allegedly committing sexual-related crimes against a student, according to officials. Kelly Ann Schutte, a 35-year-old counselor at Pennridge South Middle School, was charged with three counts of institutional sexual assault, three counts of indecent assault of a person under 16 years old, and one count of corruption of minors. Court documents obtained by FOX 29 revealed that the alleged crimes took place when the student was 14 years old.

The affidavit provided intimate details of the incidents between Schutte and the student. It began with a 911 call from the student’s mother, who reported that her son had been kissed and touched inappropriately by his school counselor. The documents stated that the minor confessed to having a romantic and sexual relationship with Schutte, which started at her home.

The affidavit also revealed that the inappropriate contact continued during a class field trip, where Schutte sat with the minor on the bus. Schutte would frequently call the student to her office during school hours, causing him to miss class. The court documents also mentioned that the inappropriate contact extended to school apps like Canvas and social media apps like Snapchat during the summer break.

The court documents further disclosed that the sexual contact occurred in various locations, including Schutte’s car outside a local supermarket, her home, and even the minor’s bedroom when his family was not present.

Following the charges, Pennridge School District released a statement announcing that Schutte has been placed on administrative leave. The district mentioned that they were made aware of the allegations in July 2023 and promptly decided to place Schutte on leave pending the outcome of the investigation. The district emphasized its strong stance against any inappropriate contact between employees and students, stating that such behavior will not be tolerated.

This is an ongoing case, and additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
