The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made an announcement stating that they will not be awarding any division or distinction to students in the class 10 and 12 board exams. This decision was made by CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj and was released officially. The release also stated that the responsibility of determining the best five subjects for calculating the students’ marks will lie with the admitting college.
According to the release, if a candidate has taken more than five subjects, the decision regarding the best five subjects will be made by the admitting institution or employer. Additionally, it was clarified that the Board does not calculate, declare, or inform the percentage of marks. If the percentage of marks is required for higher education or employment, the calculation, if any, will be done by the admitting institution or employer.
This information was provided in response to inquiries from individuals who were questioning the criteria for calculating the percentage of students in the board exams. The CBSE had previously announced that the exams for class 10 and 12 students will be conducted starting from February 15.
Last year, the CBSE had decided not to release any merit list or announce any toppers for the class 10 and 12 board exams. This decision was made to prevent unhealthy competition among students, as mentioned in the CBSE result statement.
