A 77-year-old man in Bengaluru died in what initially appeared to be an accident, but CCTV footage revealed that it was actually a murder. VV Krishnappa had shouted at a man on a motorcycle for hitting his parked two-wheeler, unknowingly getting into an argument with a bike thief. The thief struck Krishnappa on the head with a stone, leading to his death at a hospital.
At first, no one witnessed the incident, and based on information from passersby, the police believed Krishnappa had been killed in a hit-and-run. However, Krishnappa’s son decided to review CCTV footage, which proved that it was a case of murder. Subsequently, the culprit was arrested.
On November 16, Krishnappa had left his house in Bengaluru’s Palace Guttahalli area to purchase medicine from a nearby shop. Upon returning to the parking area, he noticed a man on a bike hitting his two-wheeler. Krishnappa approached the man, identified as Sarfaraz Khan, and asked him to ride responsibly. This angered Khan, who then struck Krishnappa with a stone and fled the scene. Passersby found the elderly man lying on the road and assumed he had been hit by a passing vehicle. They took him to a hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
According to a police source, Khan is a known motorcycle thief and had stolen a parked motorcycle before hitting Krishnappa’s two-wheeler. The argument between the two escalated, leading to the assault with a stone. Initially, the police were unaware of these details and registered a hit-and-run case, notifying Krishnappa’s son, Satish. However, after reviewing the CCTV footage, Satish informed the police, resulting in the registration of a murder case and Khan’s subsequent arrest.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Shekhar T stated that Krishnappa, a resident of VG Colony, had been on his way to buy medicine at the time of the incident. The initial hit-and-run case was replaced with a murder case after the CCTV footage came to light. Sarfaraz Khan has been arrested, and investigations are ongoing.
