Centre Takes Swift Action in Response to Khalistani Terrorist’s Threat to Attack Parliament

The centre has responded to a threat made by Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun to attack Parliament on or before December 13. While not wanting to give too much attention to such threats, the authorities have taken the matter seriously. Arindam Bagchi, spokesperson for the External Affairs Ministry, addressed Pannun’s threat during a press conference. Bagchi acknowledged that while he is not the appropriate person to discuss security issues, the government does take threats seriously. He explained the delicate balance between not amplifying the extremists’ threats and the need to address the issue. Bagchi confirmed that the Indian government has raised the matter with the US and Canadian authorities.

Following Pannun’s threat, the Delhi Police have heightened their alertness level. As Parliament is currently in session, security measures have been increased in and around the area. The police are determined to maintain law and order and ensure that no one disrupts the proceedings. The senior police officer stated that precautions have been taken throughout the national capital.

Gurpatwant Singh Pannun is the leader of the extremist group Sikhs for Justice. Recently, India has been investigating allegations of a foiled plot to assassinate Pannun in the US involving an Indian government official. The government has expressed concern over the matter and has initiated a high-level investigation.
