Colin Jost Expertly Critiques GOP Debate with a Single Candidate’s Remark

Colin Jost, co-anchor of “Weekend Update,” didn’t have to look far to find a fitting summary of the third Republican debate. During the debate, Vivek Ramaswamy criticized the GOP, calling them a “party of losers.” Jost, on Saturday, cleverly used Ramaswamy’s own words to describe the debate, noting that NBC had also advertised it as a “party of losers.”

Jost also found humor in the tense exchange between Ramaswamy and fellow GOP candidate Nikki Haley. During a discussion on whether to ban TikTok due to data security concerns, Ramaswamy questioned Haley about her daughter’s use of the social media platform despite her own stance on it. Jost humorously added that Ramaswamy emphasized that it didn’t matter how he knew about Haley’s daughter’s TikTok account.

Continuing with the comedic commentary, Jost highlighted Haley’s swift response to Ramaswamy, telling him to “leave my daughter out of your voice.” Jost jokingly compared her statement to a line from a Japanese movie, the Will Smith slap scene.
