Cop Saves Woman’s Life as She Slips While Boarding Bengal Train

A woman’s life was saved by a quick-thinking railway constable in West Bengal’s Howrah after she slipped and fell while trying to board a train. The incident, which occurred at the Howrah Station Old Complex, was captured on CCTV.

At 10:50 am, 40-year-old Fatima Khatoon and her relative were seen running to catch the Howrah-Tarakeswar Local train as it was about to leave Platform no 4. In their rush to get on board, Fatima briefly hung from the train door. However, her relative pushed her into the door, causing her to lose her balance and fall onto the platform.

As the train started to pick up speed, Fatima found herself trapped in the gap between the train and the platform. Her relative desperately tried to pull her back, but it was Railway Head Constable LK Bouri who came to her rescue. Bouri, who was stationed nearby, sprinted towards them and quickly pulled Fatima away from the moving train, saving her life. The CCTV footage also showed several passengers on the platform rushing to assist the constable in his rescue efforts.

Eastern Railways praised Constable Bouri for his swift action, stating, “The miraculous instant act of the on-duty Eastern Railway’s RPF Head Constable, L.K Bouri of RPF/Post/Howrah North, saved the life of the lady passenger by pulling her out from the gap between the platform and the moving train.” The railway authorities added that the passenger expressed her gratitude to the constable and was safely boarded onto another train to continue her journey.
