Emergency Response: 41 Ambulances Stand Ready Outside Tunnel, Ready to Transport Injured Workers to Hospital

In New Delhi, 41 ambulances are on standby at the entrance of the collapsed Silkyara tunnel, ready to transport workers to the nearest medical facility. To ensure a swift and organized response, a green corridor has been established, allowing the rescued workers to be quickly taken to the Chinyalisaur Community Health Centre, which is located 30 km from the tunnel.

A designated ward with 41 beds equipped with oxygen has been set up to provide prompt medical care to each worker. The road leading to the tunnel, which has become uneven due to heavy vehicle traffic over the past two weeks, is being repaired with a fresh layer of soil to ensure the smooth passage of ambulances.

Security personnel are positioned at the periphery of the tunnel to implement the evacuation protocol as soon as the workers emerge from the rescue passage. Uttarakhand Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, announced that the pipe-laying work to reach the trapped workers has been completed.

In a tweet in Hindi, Mr. Dhami expressed gratitude for the prayers and efforts of rescue teams, stating that the workers will soon be brought out of the tunnel. A team of 24 experienced experts in “rat-hole mining” is involved in the manual drilling process to excavate a narrow passageway toward the trapped workers.
