A 37-year-old woman has gone missing in the Jemez Mountains of New Mexico after asking hunters for assistance with a flat tire. Ingrid Coleen Lane disappeared on October 15 from Forest Road 144, and her family is now seeking help to locate her. The Sandoval County Sheriff’s Office shared a missing person’s post on Facebook to raise awareness about her disappearance. According to her twin sister, Kelsey Lane, Ingrid flagged down hunters who helped inflate her tire and offered to drive her to a nearby town, but she declined, stating that she intended to hike a mountain. A few days after she was last seen, Ingrid’s abandoned black 2019 Subaru Impreza Hatchback was found on the same forest road.
Unfortunately, Ingrid did not inform her family or friends about the specific mountain she planned to hike. Her husband mentioned that she had gone to the Bodhi Manda Zen Center in Jemez Springs to spend some time alone practicing Zen Buddhism meditation. Although it was not uncommon for Ingrid to go without contacting anyone for a day, her extended absence raised concerns among her loved ones.
In the search for Ingrid, scent-tracking dogs were unable to locate her, leading her sister to speculate that she may have received another ride into the mountains. Extensive efforts have been made by search and rescue teams, and family members have also traveled to the area to aid in the search. To further support their efforts, a GoFundMe campaign has been set up to raise funds for helicopter flights to conduct an aerial search.
Rebecca Lane, Ingrid’s mother, expressed her love and longing for her daughter, urging her to return if she is out there. The Jemez Mountains, located approximately 100 miles north of Albuquerque, are known for their forested terrain, rocky peaks, lakes, and hot springs. As the search continues, the family remains hopeful for Ingrid’s safe return.
