Fatal Accident: 2 Killed as Delhi-Bound Train Slams Brakes Following Overhead Wire Mishap

Two passengers were killed on Saturday after a Delhi-bound train came to a sudden halt due to an overhead electric wire snapping in Jharkhand’s Koderma district, according to officials from the East Central Railway. The incident took place near Parsabad, between Gomoh and Koderma railway stations, at 12.05 pm when the driver of the Puri-New Delhi Purushottam Express applied the emergency brake to stop the train after the overhead electric wire fell on it. Ameresh Kumar, Senior Divisional Commerce Manager of Dhanbad Railway Division, stated that the emergency brake was applied as the electric supply abruptly stopped, resulting in the deaths of two individuals due to the sudden jolt. The train was traveling at a speed of 130 kmph when the accident occurred. Train services on the grand chord line under the Dhanbad Railway Division of ECR resumed after a four-hour halt following the accident in the Koderma-Gomoh section. The Purushottam Express was brought to Gomoh by a diesel engine from the accident site and then sent to Delhi by an electric engine. Dhanbad Railway Division Manager KK Sinha and other senior officials arrived at the scene after receiving the information.
