Florida Sheriff: Deputies Tragically Crushed Between Cars by Speeding Driver – No Chance of Survival

Two deputies in Florida were intentionally attacked when a suspect struck them with a speeding car, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. The incident occurred on November 9th, when the deputies were pinned between their patrol car and the driver’s vehicle. Both officers suffered significant leg injuries and had to undergo surgery at a hospital. Sheriff Chad Chronister stated that the suspect used his car as a weapon and was subsequently arrested. The incident began when a woman called the sheriff’s office to report her son’s mental health crisis, as he was causing damage to their home. When the deputies arrived at the scene, they found the suspect sitting in a running car. They attempted to deescalate the situation, but the suspect drove away in reverse. Another pair of deputies responded, and while they were outside their parked car, the suspect returned at a high speed, hitting the officers who were standing near their vehicle. The injured officers were pinned between the suspect’s car and their own. After the crash, the suspect nonchalantly walked to his mother’s house, but was ordered to the ground by the deputies. He ignored their commands, prompting them to use a taser to apprehend him. One officer stayed with the suspect while the other gathered medical supplies for the injured officers. Firefighters arrived shortly after to provide medical care, and the injured deputies were flown to Tampa General Hospital. Corporal Carlos Brito suffered the most serious injury, with a possible need for leg amputation, while Deputy Manny Sanchez may have a bilateral leg break. The suspect, Ralph Bouzy, was charged with attempted murder on a law enforcement officer, and additional charges may be added. The incident took place in the Tampa suburb of Brandon.
