Florida Woman Allegedly Breaks into Ex-Boyfriend’s Home, Catching Him Off Guard

A woman in Palm Coast, Florida, has been arrested for breaking into her ex-boyfriend’s house, threatening him with a gun, and stealing cash from his dresser. The incident occurred on Tuesday and resulted in Kiarra Strickland, 33, being charged with home invasion/robbery with a firearm, according to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.

Reports indicate that Strickland arrived at her ex-boyfriend’s house around 9:20 a.m. with her three children in the car. Witnesses observed her two daughters in the backseat and her son in the front seat. Allegedly, Strickland grabbed a black, semi-automatic pistol from the passenger seat, where her son was sitting, and entered the home.

The door was unlocked for an unrelated friend, providing Strickland with easy access. Her ex-boyfriend was in the bathroom at the time, and he only realized it was Strickland when she appeared in his bedroom, pointing the gun at him and asking, “You got anything for me?” He replied, “No.”

Strickland proceeded to the top left drawer of the man’s dresser, where she knew he kept cash, and stole between $50 and $100. The affidavit revealed that the two had been in a short-term romantic relationship that ended in September. Strickland and her children used to live in the house but had no contact with the ex-boyfriend since the breakup. He has since changed the locks.

After taking the cash, Strickland quickly fled the scene in her car. Deputies were able to locate her son at school, who confirmed that his mother had dropped him off that morning. However, the boy appeared nervous and scared when speaking to law enforcement. Surveillance footage from neighboring Ring cameras supported the victim and witness accounts.

Following an arrest warrant, Strickland was found at her house in Palm Coast and taken into custody. A subsequent search warrant led to the recovery of the stolen cash and the gun. Strickland eventually confessed to the crime and was transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, where she is currently being held without bond.

Sheriff Rick Staly commended the efforts of the team in solving the case and arresting the offender, stating, “Not controlling your anger and then committing a crime to settle a score will get you arrested and a bed at the Green Roof Inn every time. And, she’s off the list for being the mother of the year by taking her children along with her to a home invasion that could have turned deadly.”
