We have some news on the football front. The talented midfielder, Leo Cittadini, formerly of Athletico, has been loaned by Bahia to the Shanghai Port club, located in China. This move will last until the conclusion of the current season. Cittadini is not just any player; he has been a key figure in Furacão’s recent history. One of his most notable achievements includes scoring one of the goals that led to the victory in the 2019 Copa do Brasil title final.
Leo Cittadini’s tenure with Athletico spanned five impressive seasons, from 2019 to 2023. The 30-year-old midfielder dedicated his skill and effort to a total of 180 matches for Furacão. His time on the field was marked by 88 wins, 41 draws, and 51 losses. In addition, he contributed significantly to the team’s offense, scoring 16 goals and assisting on five others throughout his stint.
However, every story has its twists and turns. Unfortunately, Cittadini found himself without a place in Wesley Carvalho’s squad. Consequently, he said his goodbyes to the club in July of the previous year and set off to join Bahia. His transfer to the Bahian team was at no cost. Despite this promising move, Cittadini only had the chance to play in seven games and did not manage to contribute to any goals.
The future still holds possibilities for this midfielder. Depending on his performance in the upcoming games, the Shanghai Port club may decide to hold onto him on a more permanent basis once his contract expires. If this is the case, Bahia would receive compensation for the player.
