Fresh Strike Calls Emerge at German Airports

A separate strike is already causing disruptions to the German air traffic. In this context, Verdi, the German service union, has once again implored the ground employees of Lufthansa to join the strike. This second call for industrial action only underscores the escalating tensions in the sector.

The Timeline of the Strike

The union released an announcement on Sunday, outlining the details of the strike. According to the given timeline, the workers are expected to halt their services from 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday till 7:10 a.m. on Wednesday. This 27-hour work stoppage is likely to further accentuate the disruptions in air traffic.

Pilot Strike at Lufthansa’s Subsidiary, Discover

Adding to the complexities, the pilots of Discover, a subsidiary of Lufthansa, are also currently on strike. Their strike is set to last till 11:59 p.m. on Monday. However, the upheaval doesn’t end there. The Cockpit pilots’ union has extended a call to Lufthansa pilots to show their solidarity with their colleagues at Discover by joining the strike. As part of this solidarity strike, the pilots operating the Boeing 787 aircraft have been asked to cease their work for four hours on Monday morning. This could potentially impact four flights. Despite these potential disruptions, Lufthansa maintains a positive outlook, expressing confidence that the departures will proceed as scheduled.
