A man from Alabama named Arthur Ray Hanson II has been accused of threatening the Fulton County sheriff and district attorney in Georgia over the potential mugshot of former President Donald Trump. According to federal prosecutors, Hanson left voicemails on the county’s customer services line on August 6, warning that harm may come to them if they took Trump’s mugshot. The threats were motivated by the ongoing investigation into Trump by the county. In the voicemail to Sheriff Patrick Labat, Hanson said that something bad would happen to him after taking the mugshot. He also warned Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis against indicting Trump, telling her to be afraid and watch her back. Hanson, 59, has been indicted on charges of transmitting interstate threats. His legal representation is unknown at this time. Trump had surrendered to law enforcement on August 24 in connection with 2020 election fraud charges. He is one of 18 people accused of trying to overturn the outcome of the presidential election in Georgia. Four have reached plea agreements, while the others, including Trump, have pleaded not guilty. The threats made by Hanson are considered illegal and a threat to the democratic process, according to the FBI’s special agent in charge of the Atlanta field office. U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Buchanan stated that such threats weaken the foundation of society.
