Gigi Hadid Sparks Controversy by Claiming Israel Holds Children as Prisoners of War

Palestinian-American supermodel Gigi Hadid is receiving backlash on social media following her recent comments about the Israel-Hamas war. Hadid, 28, has been vocal about her stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict. In a now-deleted Instagram post, she claimed that Israel had committed various atrocities against Palestinians long before Hamas launched a surprise attack on October 7, resulting in approximately 1,200 deaths.

Hadid asserted that Israel is the only country in the world that keeps children as prisoners of war. She highlighted the case of Ahmed Almanasra, who was arrested by Israeli police at the age of 13 after he and his brother stabbed a security guard and a 13-year-old boy. According to ABC News, Almanasra was initially sentenced to 12 years in prison, which was later reduced to 9.5 years.

Hadid’s post also alleged that Almanasra was subjected to solitary confinement despite his severe health condition, and claimed that hundreds of Palestinian children continue to suffer in Israeli jails. Additionally, she reposted a video that accuses Israel of harvesting organs from Palestinians without their consent.

The supermodel’s comments sparked outrage on social media, with many users demanding that her modeling agency, IMG, terminate her contract. Last month, Hadid also shared a graphic on her Instagram story stating that there is nothing Jewish about the Israeli government’s treatment of Palestinians, and that condemning the Israeli government is not antisemitic.

In response to her post, the State of Israel stated that there is nothing heroic about Hamas’ massacre of Israelis, and that condemning Hamas does not equate to being anti-Palestine. They argued that supporting Israelis in their fight against barbaric terrorists is the right thing to do.

The controversy surrounding Hadid’s comments continues to unfold, with people eagerly awaiting further responses and developments.
