Hacker Group Lockbit Launches Devastating Attack

The message announcing the takeover of the website read, “This site is now under the control of the National Crime Agency, which works closely with the FBI and the international law enforcement unit ‘Operation Cronos.’” This statement was later confirmed by a spokesman for the NCA, who reaffirmed that the gang had indeed been dismantled.

Lockbit, along with its associate criminal groups, has been responsible for hacking some of the world’s largest companies in recent months. Their modus operandi involves stealing sensitive data and then threatening to release it unless the victims comply with their ransom demands. These associates of Lockbit are like-minded criminal factions who are enlisted by the group to execute attacks using Lockbit’s state-of-the-art digital extortion tools.

The US cybersecurity agency CISA has reported that since 2020, Lockbit has launched attacks on at least 1,700 US organizations. This staggering number clearly demonstrates the scale of the group’s operations and the magnitude of the threat it posed before this successful intervention by international law enforcement agencies.
