Honda Issues Recall for Over 250,000 Vehicles Due to Potential Engine Problems and Stalling Risk

Honda has announced a recall of nearly 250,000 vehicles in the United States due to a potential engine failure that could result in stalling and increase the risk of accidents. The affected vehicles include certain 2018 and 2019 Honda Pilot SUVs, Odyssey minivans, and some 2017 and 2019 Ridgeline pickup trucks. Additionally, certain 2015 to 2020 Acura TLX cars and some 2016 to 2020 Acura MDX SUVs are also part of the recall.

According to documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Friday, Honda states that a manufacturing error has led to the potential wearing and seizing of connecting rod bearings in the engine. This could cause the engines to run improperly or stall while driving, posing the risk of fire, accidents, or injuries.

Although Honda has received 1,450 warranty claims related to this issue, no injuries have been reported thus far. To address the problem, authorized dealers will thoroughly inspect the affected vehicles and repair or replace the engines as necessary. Starting from January 2, Honda will notify owners of the impacted vehicles by mail.

This recall serves as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of Honda and Acura vehicle owners. Prompt action is recommended to address this manufacturing defect and prevent any potential accidents or injuries.
