Hyundai and Amazon announce partnership to offer online car sales from 2024

Amazon and Hyundai have announced a partnership that will allow customers to purchase Hyundai vehicles online through Amazon.com in the United States, starting next year. This agreement builds upon a previous deal made two years ago to enhance Hyundai’s digital showroom on Amazon.com, which allowed customers to customize their vehicles, calculate prices, and find a local dealer to complete the purchase.

The original digital showroom was launched by Hyundai on Amazon in 2018, and the latest version was unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Under the new agreement, customers will be able to shop for, configure, and buy a Hyundai car directly on Amazon.com. They can also schedule delivery through a nearby Hyundai dealer.

Additionally, starting in 2025, buyers of new Hyundai vehicles will have access to Amazon’s voice assistant, Alexa, from their cars. This integration aims to enhance the overall driving experience and provide convenient access to various Amazon services.

Hyundai Motor CEO Jay Chang expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, “Partnering with one of the world’s most customer-centric organizations unlocks incredible opportunities as we continue to expand our portfolio, grow our sales network, transition to electrification, and realize the future of smart mobility.”

The collaboration between Amazon and Hyundai exemplifies the growing trend of automakers embracing online sales and digital showrooms to meet the evolving needs and preferences of customers. It also highlights the increasing integration of voice assistants into vehicles to provide seamless connectivity and convenience.
