Former Education Secretary Betsy DeVos has made the maximum allowed political contributions to Michigan Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers. DeVos, who previously expressed her belief that the Department of Education “should not exist,” donated $6,600 to Rogers for both the primary and general elections. In addition to DeVos, other influential members of the DeVos family, including her husband Richard “Dick” DeVos Jr. and various executives and philanthropists, also contributed to Rogers’ campaign, totaling $46,200. Rogers, a former congressman and chair of the House Intelligence Committee, is seen as a competitive candidate in the race to succeed Democratic Senator Debbie Stabenow.
