Glenn Maxwell’s Heroics Propel Australia to Victory Over Afghanistan
In a stunning display of cricketing prowess, Glenn Maxwell led Australia to a remarkable comeback win over Afghanistan in the Cricket World Cup 2023 held in Mumbai on Tuesday. Afghanistan had set a total of 291/5, with Ibrahim Zadran becoming the first Afghan player to score a century in the Cricket World Cup. Zadran smashed 129 runs off 143 deliveries.

Speaking after the match, Maxwell acknowledged the challenging conditions during the game, saying, “It was hot while fielding today, I haven’t done a lot of exercise in the heat, it got a hold on me today. I wanted to stay back and get some movement (on my legs). Not too much (when asked about plans at 92/7), just stick to the batting plans as much as possible, for me, still be positive, still look to play my shots, that LBW, it was going just above (the stumps), probably that made me be more proactive.”
Maxwell’s outstanding performance has not only revived Australia’s hopes in the tournament but also bolstered the team’s belief in their abilities.
