The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has recently submitted a charge sheet against seven individuals suspected of being ISIS terrorists. The charge sheet claims that these individuals were planning and coordinating attacks throughout India. According to the investigations, the accused managed to raise funds to support ISIS activities under the guidance of their handlers. The NIA sources have stated that their objective was to instigate violence and create terror within the country.
The charge sheet further reveals that all the accused were well-educated and technologically proficient. They held multiple meetings in Pune, Maharashtra, where they devised plans to recruit new members through WhatsApp groups. To procure chemicals for the manufacturing of improvised explosive devices (IEDs), they used code words such as vinegar or “sirka” for sulphuric acid, rosewater for acetone, and “sherbat” for hydrogen peroxide.
Officials have highlighted that the investigation has uncovered a complex network of individuals dedicated to propagating the extremist ideology of ISIS within India. In addition, a set of documents titled “Revenge on Kafirs” has been seized by the NIA, which outlines their strategy to further ISIS activities in the country. It has been revealed that the accused intended to seek retribution for alleged atrocities committed against Muslims by non-Muslims, whom they referred to as Kafirs.
The NIA has also alleged that the accused were in contact with foreign handlers who were kept informed about the progress of their plans. The agency awaits further updates on the case.
