In a recent development, two Palestinian brothers were fatally shot by the Israeli army on Thursday afternoon. This unfortunate incident occurred during an operation in the West Bank town of Beit Awa, located in the Hebron governorate in the southern region of Palestine. The third brother, on the other hand, sustained injuries from the shooting.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health has officially confirmed the tragic demise of the two brothers. The victims were identified as 26-year-old Salá al Din Suleiman Shawamre, who was fatally shot in the abdomen and chest, and 34-year-old Najm al Din Suleiman Shawamre. The Ministry made this announcement via a statement posted on their official Facebook page.
Salá al Din Suleiman Shawamre, the younger brother, succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. His death was confirmed a few hours after the immediate death of his older brother, Najm al Din, who was fatally hit in the heart. The third sibling, 30-year-old Nour al Din, was fortunate to escape with minor injuries, as reported by the Palestinian news agency, WAFA.
Since the assault by the Islamic Resistance Movement (also known as Hamas) on October 7, which resulted in a staggering 1,200 fatalities and left 240 individuals as hostages, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have significantly ramped up their operations in the West Bank and East Jerusalem. These intensified operations have led to a minimum of 406 Palestinian deaths, including 102 minors, and over 4,500 injuries. The Ministry of Health, under the control of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, has reported an alarming death toll of more than 30,000 Palestinians.
