Karnataka Government Officer’s Murder: Arrest Made of the Suspected Driver

The driver of a Karnataka government officer has been arrested for her murder in Bengaluru. The victim, Prathima KS, was found dead at her home in the city’s Subramanyapora area. Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayanand stated, “One suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the murder case. He was working as a driver and he was removed from the work, probably seven to 10 days earlier.”

According to sources, the driver, identified as Kiran, confessed to the crime. He revealed that he killed Prathima because she had fired him. Kiran, an on-contract government employee for the past five years, fled to Chamarajanagar, which is approximately 200 km away from Bengaluru.

Prathima, a 45-year-old geologist with the state’s Mines and Geology Department, was stabbed to death. Her husband and son were in Karnataka’s Shivamogga district, which is 300 km from Bengaluru, at the time of the incident.

The murder was discovered around 8.30 am on Sunday after Prathima’s brother informed the police. Preliminary investigations indicate that she was at the office until 6 pm on Saturday and was dropped off at her home by the replacement driver at around 8 pm.

The murder is believed to have occurred between 8 pm Saturday and 8 am Sunday, according to police sources. Prathima’s residence was a two-floor independent building in Doddakallasandra.

A senior officer from the state’s Environment Department described Prathima as a “very dynamic lady” who worked hard and earned a great reputation in the department. He mentioned that she recently conducted several raids. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has promised to ensure justice for the murdered woman.
