Telangana MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy Hospitalized After Being Stabbed While Campaigning

Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, Telangana MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy was stabbed today while campaigning in Siddipet district. The attack occurred as the MP was walking towards a pastor’s home.

According to eyewitnesses, an unidentified man approached Reddy, appearing as if he wanted to shake hands with the leader. However, to everyone’s horror, the man suddenly pulled out a knife and stabbed Reddy in the stomach. Fortunately, the attacker was swiftly apprehended and subdued by BRS workers present at the rally.

Siddipet Commissioner of Police N Swetha confirmed the arrest, stating, “The assailant has been taken into custody. We are currently verifying his identity and background.”

Reddy, who represents the Medak Lok Sabha constituency, sustained stomach injuries and was immediately rushed to Gajwel government hospital. Thankfully, his condition is reported to be stable.

It is worth mentioning that Reddy recently emerged as the BRS candidate from Dubbaka, where he will challenge sitting BJP MLA Raghunandan in the upcoming November 30 polls. He had previously become an MP in 2014 after Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao vacated the seat to participate in assembly elections.

Footage from the scene showed Reddy, despite his injuries, applying pressure to his stab wound in an effort to control the bleeding while seated in a vehicle.

Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the incident to determine the motive behind the attack. Meanwhile, the MP’s supporters and well-wishers are praying for his speedy recovery.
