A former elections director charged in connection with efforts to overturn Georgia’s 2020 election has released videos of prosecutors’ interviews with some of their co-defendants. Misty Hampton’s lawyer, Jonathan Miller, stated that he believed the videos helped his client and that the public had the right to see them. Fulton County prosecutors initially sought an order to prevent the release of any evidence in the case, but the judge is expected to issue a more limited protective order on Thursday. Hampton was indicted alongside former President Donald Trump and others for allegedly participating in a scheme to keep Trump in power despite Biden’s victory. Four individuals, including attorneys Sidney Powell and Jenna Ellis, have pleaded guilty, while the remaining defendants have pleaded not guilty. The released videos were part of the evidence provided to the defendants and their attorneys, but were not publicly available. Hampton’s attorney argued that hiding the videos misleads the public about the case. He also noted that two of the individuals who pleaded guilty were implicated in an incident involving Hampton, but he believes their evidence does not harm his client.
