The Lokpal, an anti-corruption body, has ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate corruption allegations against Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra, according to BJP MP Nishikant Dubey. Dubey made the announcement on X, formerly Twitter. Moitra has been accused by Dubey of accepting cash in exchange for asking questions in parliament on behalf of businessman Darshan Hiranandani, with the intention of targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and business rival Adani Group. Dubey also claimed that Moitra compromised national security by sharing her parliamentary login with Hiranandani. Hiranandani admitted to the login sharing, but denied the cash for query issue, stating that he had given Moitra gifts as per her demands. There are allegations that Moitra’s login has been used multiple times from Dubai, where Hiranandani currently resides. Moitra has admitted to sharing her login but argued that the rules regarding login sharing were not shared with MPs. The Ethics Committee, which is investigating the case, has accused Moitra of non-cooperation.
