Lustenau Coach Heraf Threatens Rapid Fan Watschen

In a recent unexpected turn of events, Sunday proved to be a holiday for Andreas Heref, the esteemed coach of Austria Lustenau. Surprising the entire football fraternity, the team managed to score 1:1 at Rapid. This surprising result has put the Viennese in a tight spot, placing them under immense pressure in the race for the top 6 positions.

However, the first half of the game held more surprises. The former midfielder, Andreas Heref, who had an illustrious career with Rapid, was greeted by “Andi Heraf” chants from Block West, a sight that was both unexpected and pleasant.

“Best fans in this country”

The 56-year-old coach couldn’t hide his happiness and responded by waving to the fans and giving them a thumbs up. In a post-game press conference, Heraf confessed that he was initially surprised to hear his name being chanted by the opponent’s fans. He even asked his assistant coach to confirm if they were indeed cheering for him. He expressed his gratitude by saying, “I was very pleased. These are the best fans in this country.”

Dispute in front of the stands

However, not all was well for Andreas Heraf. According to several videos, the Lustenau coach made his way to the family stand after the final whistle to greet his family members. However, a dispute arose.

An altercation with a fan took place when the fan allegedly shouted “Schleich di do”, which angered Heraf. The former ÖFB youth team boss can be seen in the videos shouting: “Come here when you dare. Get a waddle right away . . . Kumm owa.” After this, the coach referred to the spectator as “Schwammerl” in his anger.

Given that the Bundesliga has recently been giving more emphasis on the behaviour of coaches, officials and footballers during and around games, Heraf’s threat of wading could potentially have repercussions for him.

Notification of the incident has already been submitted and Heraf will have to appear before Senate 1 to explain his actions.

Apologies from Heraf

Reflecting on the incident, Andreas Heraf has expressed his regrets. He explained that he wanted to greet his family members in the stands, and has always been able to handle criticism throughout his football career. However, he lost his composure when his family felt harassed by the aggressive fan. Despite this, he acknowledged his mistake and said, “This shouldn’t happen to me. I would like to apologize for it.”
