Madhya Pradesh MLA Overcomes Odds, Funds Law Degree by Delivering Tiffins and Residing in Mud House

Kamleshwar Dodiyar, a newly elected MLA in Madhya Pradesh, has emerged as a stark contrast to the richest MLA in the assembly, declaring assets worth Rs 223 crore. Dodiyar, who hails from a humble background, worked as a laborer and tiffin delivery boy to finance his education. He currently lives in a leaky mud house.

Despite facing numerous challenges, Dodiyar managed to overcome them and successfully submitted his documents to the Assembly secretariat in Bhopal. Due to the unavailability of a four-wheeler, he embarked on a 300 km journey on a motorcycle. Dodiyar, 33, contested from the Sailana seat in Ratlam district under the banner of the recently formed Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP). He defeated his nearest rival, Harsh Vijay Gehlot of the Congress, by a margin of 4,618 votes. Notably, Dodiyar’s victory in the reserved tribal seat was the only one secured by a party other than the BJP or the Congress.

Expressing his gratitude, Dodiyar acknowledged the support he received from his party colleagues who campaigned for him even while facing financial hardships. Determined to serve the disadvantaged, he promised to work diligently to ensure the effective implementation of government schemes.

Born in Radha Kua village in the Sailana constituency, Dodiyar hails from the tribal community. His family resides in a mud house, and his mother supported his education by selling eggs in the village and working as a laborer in Gujarat and Rajasthan. Dodiyar himself worked as a laborer and delivered tiffins in Delhi while pursuing his LLB from Delhi University.

After facing two defeats as an Independent candidate, Dodiyar made the decision to join the newly formed Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP). In the November 17 elections, he garnered 71,219 votes, surpassing the Congress candidate’s 66,601 votes and the BJP candidate’s 41,584 votes.

The BAP, originally from Rajasthan, won three seats in the state. The party was established by MLAs Rajkumar Roat and Ramprasad Dindor in September following a split in the Bharatiya Tribal Party. The BAP aims to improve the lives of tribal communities by providing education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. Additionally, the party emphasizes environmental concerns, pledging to support policies that promote clean energy, reduce pollution, and preserve ecosystems for future generations.

Dodiyar’s inspiring journey from a laborer and tiffin delivery boy to an elected MLA showcases his determination and commitment to serving his constituents. Despite his impoverished background, he strives to make a positive impact on the lives of the disadvantaged through his political career.
